Magnavox MWR20V6 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

I wanted to tape TV shows and then put them on a DVD to save and share, also wanted to be able to cut out the commercials. I also wanted to be able to share the shows without knowing or caring what kind of DVD +/- or whatever a friend's machine could play. This machine does it all. I can record on tape or disk, easily copy from tape to disk or disk to tape. I can cut out the commercials and make the disk readable by any machine. The instruction book isn't the best, it is a bit confusing, but once I started using the machine I really didn't need the instructions very much. I did a lot of research on different brands on Amazon and elsewhere before choosing this machine.
