I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this DVD REC with VCR! First, transferring old VHS to DVD is VERY easy to do & I briefly read the instruction manual, however, there are things written in the manual that makes you say "HUH?" or "WHAT?"! Thankfully, the machine is easy to figure out! The recordings are nice & the upconversion of regular DVDs are spectacular, but of course can't compare to Blu ray HD! I have been recording programs from my DIRECTV DVR to save space! However, you can't record copy writed shows. Thus far, no problems yet. Also you must select FINALIZE after recording so you can play the disc on other DVD players. The MAIN reason I bought this player is to record VHS tapes to DVD of home movies to keep for a lifetime!
