This is my SIXTH panasonic DVD recorder. My first is an older model that I purchased 7 years ago. A DVD/VHS combo recorder. With several thousands of hours of use, it is still working like new. I then purchased 3 additional VHS/DVD combos. Gave one to my sister and kept the other two. I recently added another, but with VHS so outdated, I chose the DVD recorder (no combo unit). My sister wanted second unit, so I gave her one of my combos, and purchased this DVD recorder to replace. All in all I am greatly satisfied with these PAnasonic products. Here's the key to keeping them working at peek performance: check once or twice a year at Panasonic's web site for Firmware Updates. Do not buy the player only, get the recorder model. If your going to get a refurbished, make certain it comes from a reputable merchant.
